Moreover, the main rumble proceeded, oddly enough, from the winter studded tires! There is no aerodynamic whistle characteristic of many machines completely, and the motor does not sound as loud as expected. We were lucky that at such a later time the road was not patrolled by police officers, because on the way back, when we drove about twice as slowly, they still met and we got off with a slight fright. By the way, for us it remained a mystery why a speed limiter did not work at 250 km/h. Theoretically, Audi is able to go even faster, but is it worth tempting fate? Yes, and the quality of domestic roads makes flights at low altitude extremely dangerous, because you never know where you will find an open hatch or freshly tanned lying policeman.
If you could understand something about the S6 by a couple of centimeters of a suspension, expanded by 14 mm wheeled arches, according to the V10 nameplate on the front wings and four exhaust systems under the rear bumper. Or by the sound of the engine. Or at a price that rolls over for 100,000 euros. Yes, in the S6 one feels the confidence of an adult, a consistent and a very wealthy person who is accustomed to simply and costly dressing, and keeping his millions in a Swiss bank. On straight and even roads S6 Koro-Korolevich! The most convenient (in terms of speed) is a means of gambling from one city of Germany to another. The car radiates power and internal dignity. Therefore, any attempt to drive with hot hatchbacks or classmates, who are in Russian there are not many roads, it looks especially vulgar. Even a non -lifting riding on the clogged MKAD with a periodic teleportation for several hundred meters is soon boring and begins to tire, as not appropriate, after half an hour. And in traffic, the flour is completely. Adaptive cruise control is turned on only after 40 km/h, so you do not have to count on it here. How do you like the hot sports motor from the sultry Italian, who already pulls at medium speeds, how is the average electric train and at the same time spin up to almost 7 thousand?
And how S6 reacts to gas as if there are no Euro-4 norms and other environmental standards almost instantly. Soveting the motor and a modified 6-speed automatic. And the old box always pleasantly surprised at the speed of work, and the converged transfer numbers made the dynamics even more impressive. For perfectly even European roads, the suspension is brilliantly configured, but on ours, you know which, it is pretty sausage. The smallest bumps reach passengers in great detail, and the driver can completely to make an impression of the depth, shape and form of potholes, according to which 19-inch low-profile wheels have just passed, so you can forget about comfort in the philistine sense. Or you will have to move all the time at a speed of at least 200 km/h. The exemplary convenience of the salon with sports buckets in front of the lined with defiantly white skin and alcantara and three full -fledged and comfortable places from the back will also not save from shaking. But Audi has a full, almost 500-liter trunk. The Eski salon itself is not much different from the usual A6, except that the S6 nameplates appeared on the steering wheel on the instrument panel, and the speedometer marking is 300 km/h.
But, nevertheless, the main disappointment is not a suspension. From the S6 you are waiting for supercar controllability, but it does not smell. Yes, the car dawns in the turns of winding tracks much more energetically than the usual Audi A6 does. And it is not surprise to the Intersose differential torsen distributes the torque through the axes not symmetrically, leading 60% to the rear, but 40% to the front axle. But large dimensions and mass are made by S6 very clumsy, in comparison, say with the easier and closer in power RS4. The problem lies in the mighty V10 motor, which is entirely taken over the front axle of these features of the layout of all Audi cars with a longitudinal location of the motor. Apparently, the turns must be passed sideways, although it is not so easy to expose the car in the skid. Even with the stabilization system, S6 bursts into a turn later and is more reluctant than you expect, and even the discharge of gas at the entrance does not help very much.
However, such a ride is rather pampering, from the point of view of the Audi racing controllability, it is far from ideal. A heavy engine resists of all 435 of its horsepower and it seems that the car is simply not imprisoned under such a ride. And it seems to me, this impression is true. Because from the supercar there is only a motor.
Ideal appearance with breathtaking trifles, such as LED fog lights in the front bumper and small flaps below, a luxurious interior, for the first time a Russified MMI system, a ZF machine, trying to please the most temperamental drivers and a stabilization system that helps out these same temperamental drivers, if they are something. They do wrong - everything is great here except one. The deceived expectations of those who once were so overpowered by learning about the ambulance of the Gallardo and Audi S6 motor. They will find guaranteed disappointment. Because excitement, that is, but there is no satisfaction. Especially if you used to go to RS4 with its usual V-shaped eight.
S6 will like it if you are excited by a quick ride in a straight line, otherwise it is disappointed with a capital S. The car has no car with such a motor and with such a suspension of applied value. To eat, there is intelligence, there is even a status, but it makes no sense. Why might be needed an Audi S6? The answer is only for the collection as a weekend car and an excellent example of deceived expectations, as one of many expensive chronometers in the collection of a wealthy Swiss, as an example of the German auto industry at the beginning of the 21st century. Moreover, it costs no more than other chronometers from 137 thousand dollars. But what about 5.2 seconds to 100 km/h, and 267 km/h on a car with a broken limiter, you ask? Is that great? Great, but only if you do not have a single Lambrghini in the garage. And it’s dangerous to ride quickly.
