But, oddly enough, it is for such people that A4 exists with a turbodiesel 2.7-liter six and a stray variator (from the column transmission). These two allow you to get the same diesel locomotive. Who has no boot, jerks on acceleration, he simply gains a move. Audi does the same. Only much faster. Acceleration to a hundred fits in eight seconds. And what an acceleration it is!
From the bottom line, straight, take -off! The work of the variator is almost invisible. More precisely, the opposite is noticeable, because not least due to the smooth change of gear ratio, such acceleration became possible. There is a feeling that a car pulls by a rope some huge invisible handle. With a capacity of 190 horses. But in fact, this herd hid under the hood and rotates the front wheels of the variator on Audi coexist only with front -wheel drive. Horses behave quietly, do not make a holigan, do not laugh in vain. Only on idle they give themselves out with a soft muffled muffling from the outside and barely noticeable vibration inside. The soundproofing of the motor is so good that in the cabin of his voice in any modes is almost inaudible.
All that is required of the driver is to put pressure on the gas. I tried to play with the manual mode of the variator, which allows you to choose one of eight pseudo -shows. Children's pranks! They do not lead to anything except shocks when changing steps. The main advantage of the smoothness of the speed set is lost. The main advantage and the main enemy of the active driver. Quickly, confidently, reliably, with a huge supply of traction at any time, but boring. Not everyone wants to ride as if on an electric car. But he can change his opinion by looking at the column efficiency. During the test, in a very active ride, the average consumption was 12.5 liters per 100 km. Basin V6 with a volume of 3 liters barely met 20 liters per hundred in the same modes. And in dynamics, cars are absolutely comparable, although they are accelerated in different ways.
A switch of operating modes, engine, suspension and steering is responsible for the nuances of the behavior of the machine. This is not to say that its three positions Comfort, Auto and Dynamic (there are also Individual, the parameters are set independently through MMI) make three different cars from the Audi, but there is still the effect of turning this key. Especially on the steering wheel and on the response to press the accelerator. In comfort, the steering wheel rotates very easily, the reaction to the gas is strongly downstled; In dynamics, the steering wheel is poured in turns with weight, and after impacting the whip hidden under the hood, the horses instantly switch to a gallop. The suspension is less noticeable. Audi on 17-inch wheels has an excellent balance between comfort and sports in any modes. The mode switch only shifts this balance in one direction or another. There are no extremes - neither a sports car nor a limousine from this Audi A4 after pressing the button does not work.
Most of all I liked this combination: engine, variator and steering wheel in Dynamic, and the suspension in Comfort. The car does not shake, it does not jump on irregularities, but on the steering wheel, unlike the Comfort and Auto modes, a tangible force appears, and the motor and the variator are heated to the full. A great option for long trips on suburban roads, where you need to powerfully shoot at overtaking, and the coating is not always perfect. In general, the handling here, like the dynamics, is reliable, confident, but without spices. I went too far with the entrance speed of the predicted demolition. Reduced gas went inside. It is difficult to achieve a drift. Yes, and ESP is on guard, stopping slipping or sideways in the bud.
The trump cards of this four are the perfect smoothness of acceleration and good economy. You can’t call it temperamental, despite the excellent dynamics and a dense suspension. If you want a hotter, it is better to look at other A4 modifications. Maybe even on the handle. But for just traveling, you can’t imagine better.

The new generation of the 2.7 V6 TDI motor is another round of evolution. Compared to the engine of the same volume of past years, a new one is more powerful by 10 hp and more than 20 nm. Each cylinder has four valves. The Common Rail injection system, and the turbine has changed geometry. The exhaust satisfies the Euro-5. Compared to the senior, 3-liter V6 turbodiesel, the volume is reduced due to the shortened stroke of the piston (83.1 instead of 91.4 mm) with unchanged diameter. Less volume is better than efficiency (6.6 versus 6.8 liters per hundred).
