Argentine from Kaluga: Peugeot 408

But the global model is to maximize different tastes. Externally, a novelty greatly looks at the past "Peugeot-407", although, as you already understood, it is not a direct heir. They are close and length - 4.69 m from "Peugeot-408" and 4.68 in the 407th, but newcomer above (1.52 versus 1.45 m) and wider (1.82 versus 1.81 m) . The front is quite different from the primancy - "Peugeot-408" very reminds of the former flagship of the brand - the 607th model. Due to the three voluminous silhouette, the volume of the trunk increased to 481 liters, although in this parameter "Peugeot-408" is still inferior to "Renault Logan" (510 liters) and "symbol" (505 liters).
In China, the model is equipped with a long-produced engine-produced 1.6 liters (110 hp) and 2.0 liters (147 hp). The Argentine version is also supplied with 1.6-liter turbo diesel in combination with a 6-speed automaton. At the Kaluga Conveyor "Peugeot-408" will supply a much more modern gasoline engine of the EP6C series with variable gas distribution phases (1.6 liters, 120 hp), this is a joint development of PSA and BMW. The gearboxes will be the same as on the "Peugeot-308": 5-speed mechanics and a recently upgraded 4-speed ZF machine.
Adapting the "Peugeot-408" and Russian reality, finalized the launchers of the engine with severe frosts, and the suspension was made more energy intensive. The tests were carried out in the Urals and behind the northern polar circle. Interestingly, Russian volunteer drivers took part in the bridge of the suspension.
