Opinion about Ford Focus of the First Generation
Ford Focus release 1998 - 2005 enjoyed in high demand. Prices for FF 1 were available for the mass consumer. Good quality at a reasonable price. The most spacious interior among classmates, decent technical characteristics, acceptable cost.
The concern then began to produce cars of domestic assembly, which were offered at even more attractive prices. The number of owners of FF grew in geometric progression. Among Sond-Hand is more than these versions. They have their drawbacks, but I consider a used FF worthy choice.
Body and chassis
Focus goes in three versions: hatchback, wagon and sedan. Choose any - the benefit of the offer allows. No wonder FF consider a very popular model. Rust resistance at the body is good. However, on auto domestic assembly you will find many uneven connections. Someone can say that this is not at the level, unprofessional. Indeed, the first parties were assembled not entirely qualitatively. Although now it is practically impossible to find differences between the machines of the Russian and European assembly. I do not recommend taking cars of the first parties of the Russian assembly, it is better to look for later versions or europeans (although they are more difficult to find).
The running focus is pretty durable and reliable. It is designed for our roads, for this reason, it does not cause so much trouble as the suspension of classmates. The bulkhead is not required up to 160,000 km - very economically. Achilles Fifth - Stabilizer racks that are consumables. But the replacement is not expensive.
Motors and transmissions
Often the problems arose with 1.6-liter engines of yoke with 16 valves. The dynamics was frankly weak. The reason was that the SE motor version was supplied to our country, the capacity of which was lowered for 10 forces in order to use 92-wow gasoline. This motor was improved only in 2002.
Also for the Russian assembly was supplied 1.6 l Motor Zetaek-E with 8 valves of the production of the South African Republic with the chain drive of the timing and cast-iron block. He was not a capricious, however, and not very fast. With an automatic box, 1,8 and 2-liter engines walked. The short-lived fuel pump is a minus.
Many hassle delivers a cooling system. After 80,000 km burst the thermostat, the hardening of the stove. Often it is buggy tank cover valve.
Transmission boxes are quite reliable. Naturally, with timely that. The clutch on the MCPP lives up to 160,000 km.
Other malfunctions
