The first ACURA CL model manufactured in the US (Akura CL) was presented in 1996 as part of the 1997 model range. Designed in California and collected in Ohio, the CL model occupies an intermediate place in the ACURA line between the younger Integra model and TL sedans. Initially built on the Accord coupe platform, the CL model is designed in accordance with the tastes of American consumers and aims to free people looking for a comfortable and luxurious sports compartment. In 1998, the basic modification of the CL acquired a large and more powerful engine with a volume of 2.3 liters and, accordingly, the new 2.3CL index instead of the former 2.2CL. The current generation Cl received to the market in March 2000, and since 2001, the only engine for this model is V6, the forced version of which is installed on the "charged" modification of Type S.
